What Happened to Amy Elizabeth Fisher?

Amy Elizabeth Fisher rose to national infamy in 1992, at the age of 17, when she shot Mary Jo Buttafuoco, the wife of her alleged lover, Joey Buttafuoco, outside their Massapequa, New York, home. The sensationalized media dubbed her the "Long Island Lolita," turning the case into a tabloid phenomenon that spawned multiple made-for-TV movies. Fisher had begun a sexual relationship with the then 35-year-old auto body shop owner Joey Buttafuoco in 1991 while still underage. On May 19, 1992, Fisher went to the Buttafuoco residence, and when Mary Jo Buttafuoco answered the door, Fisher shot her in the head, severely wounding her but not killing her. Fisher and Bellera divorced in 2015. Following her divorce, Fisher returned to Long Island with her children, reportedly seeking support from her family and a safer environment after experiencing issues with a stalker in Florida. She has since legally changed her name and is known to go by "Liz". In the years following her release, Fisher also ventured into the adult entertainment industry, appearing in adult films and later becoming a webcam model. Her ex-husband, Louis Bellera, expressed his disapproval of her webcam career in 2017, though they were already divorced. As of July 2026, Amy Fisher, now 51, continues to reside on Long Island and works as a webcam model. Her eldest son, Brett Anthony Bellera, 25, and his girlfriend Jennifer Armenti, were charged with aggravated animal cruelty in Florida in June 2026, following the death of their cat in December 2024, an event that brought Fisher back into recent headlines.
