Bobby Lee Eaton, born on August 14, 1958, in Huntsville, Alabama, embarked on his professional wrestling journey at a remarkably young age. His passion for the sport began at 13, helping set up wrestling rings in his hometown, and he made his professional debut in May 1976 at just 17, after training under Tojo Yamamoto.

Eaton quickly established himself as a gifted tag team wrestler. His early successes included winning the NWA Mid-America Tag Team Championship with Lanny Poffo in 1978 and later forming 'The Jet Set' with George Gulas. However, his career truly soared when he joined Mid-South Wrestling and became one-half of The Midnight Express, initially with Dennis Condrey and managed by the charismatic Jim Cornette. Dangerously's formidable stable, the Dangerous Alliance, from 1991 to 1992. Later in his WCW career, he adopted the persona of 'Earl Robert Eaton' as part of 'The Blue Bloods' with Lord Steven Regal. He wrestled for various promotions throughout his career, including Smoky Mountain Wrestling, ECW, and TNA, before retiring in 2015.

Eaton faced several health challenges in his later years. In September 2006, he was hospitalized, initially reported as a heart attack, though it was later clarified as high blood pressure with a hint of diabetes. He had a pacemaker inserted in June 2013 due to cardiac problems. His wife, Donna Dundee, passed away on June 26, 2021. Just over a month later, in July 2021, Eaton was hospitalized after a fall. Bobby Eaton died in his sleep at his home in Nashville, Tennessee, on August 4, 2021, at the age of 62, just ten days before his 63rd birthday. He was found by his daughter Taryn, who had moved in to monitor his health.

Since his passing, the wrestling community has continued to honor his memory. Tributes poured in from across the industry, highlighting his reputation as one of the kindest and most respected figures in professional wrestling. A memorial service was held on August 24, 2021, attended by numerous family members and wrestling peers. In December 2024, his family released a heartfelt video tribute showcasing personal pictures and reflecting on his friendships. His enduring impact was recognized with a posthumous induction into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of The Midnight Express in 2026, solidifying his place among wrestling's all-time greats. The five-year anniversary of his death was also noted by wrestling history pages in August 2026.
