The phenomenon known as "Duck Dynasty" first captivated audiences on A&E from 2012 to 2017, showcasing the Louisiana-based Robertson family and their thriving duck call business, Duck Commander. The series quickly became a ratings juggernaut, with its fourth-season premiere in August 2013 drawing a record-breaking 11.8 million viewers, making it the most-watched nonfiction series telecast in cable television history at the time. The show's appeal stemmed from its unique blend of Southern charm, family values, humor, and the Robertsons' distinctive bearded appearance and Christian faith.

However, the show's immense popularity was not without its challenges. A significant turning point occurred in December 2013 when patriarch Phil Robertson made controversial remarks regarding homosexuality in a GQ magazine interview, leading to his temporary suspension from the network. Additionally, a Lifetime movie, "Faith & Forgiveness: A Duck Dynasty Love Story," centering on Al and Lisa Robertson's journey through marital challenges, is set to premiere on May 16, 2026.
