Laura Elizabeth Loomer, born May 21, 1993, began her career in far-right activism with Project Veritas, gaining notoriety for undercover stunts, such as attempting to form a 'Sympathetic Students in Support of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria' club at Barry University in 2015. Her early activism was marked by provocative actions and inflammatory commentary, leading to her departure from Project Veritas in 2017 to join The Rebel, a Canadian right-wing media outlet. Loomer's controversial statements, particularly those deemed anti-Muslim and promoting conspiracy theories, resulted in her being banned from numerous mainstream social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (now X), as well as payment processors and ride-sharing apps.

Despite these widespread bans, Loomer continued her activism and ventured into electoral politics. She unsuccessfully ran for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives twice, first in Florida's 21st congressional district in 2020, winning the Republican primary but losing the general election to Democrat Lois Frankel. She then ran in Florida's 11th congressional district in 2022, losing the Republican primary to incumbent Daniel Webster. Following Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter, her account was reinstated, providing her with a significant platform once again. Throughout this period, Loomer cultivated a close, albeit informal, relationship with Donald Trump, often appearing at his events and publicly supporting his 'America First' agenda.

During Donald Trump's second term as president, Loomer's influence significantly grew, positioning her as an unofficial but powerful figure within his orbit. By early April 2025, reports indicated she had influenced President Trump to dismiss more than half a dozen national security officials due to her suspicions of their disloyalty. She was characterized by some within the administration as a 'one-person wrecking crew' whose attacks were disproportionate. Her access extended to high-level meetings, including one with Vice President JD Vance in June 2025, further solidifying her perceived sway over personnel decisions.

Loomer continued to leverage her platforms, particularly her Rumble show 'Loomer Unleashed,' to advocate for her political views and target officials she deemed disloyal. In October 2025, she publicly criticized the Trump administration over plans for a Qatari Air Force training facility in Idaho, threatening not to vote in the 2026 midterms due to what she termed the 'Islamification' of the U.S. By November 2025, Loomer was credentialed to cover the Pentagon, a move that sparked further debate about the blurring lines between fringe activism and mainstream access. Most recently, in March 2026, Loomer traveled to India to speak at the India Today Conclave. Her visit sparked controversy as past anti-India and anti-immigrant posts resurfaced, leading her to issue an apology for some of her remarks while reaffirming her strong opposition to the H-1B visa program.
