Married... with Children premiered on April 5, 1987, as one of the Fox Broadcasting Company's inaugural primetime series, quickly establishing itself with its edgy, satirical humor that contrasted sharply with the family-friendly sitcoms of the era. More recently, an animated revival series with the original main cast attached to voice their characters was announced in 2022, with 'Family Guy' executive producer Alex Carter serving as showrunner. A synopsis for the animated series, teasing the Bundys' relocation to Florida, was released in May 2024. However, in July 2025, multiple reports, citing TVLine, confirmed that the animated project was no longer in production and had been officially scrapped by Sony Pictures Television, though the intellectual property remained highly valued. David Faustino later clarified in April 2026 that the animated series was 'on hold,' citing the high cost of production as a contributing factor.

Separately, David Faustino also revealed in June 2026 that a live-action reboot, centered around his character Bud Bundy, came 'extremely close' to happening. All four main cast members had signed deals to appear as recurring characters, and Sony was reportedly ready to proceed. However, the project was canceled at the '11th hour' due to concerns that the proposed storyline deviated too much from the original show's essence.

Despite the setbacks in revival attempts, the show's enduring popularity was evident in 2026. All 11 seasons of 'Married... with Children' became available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video in the United States on March 25, 2026, after its rights on Hulu expired in November 2025. Furthermore, the original cast members — Ed O'Neill, Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate, and David Faustino — reunited for a charity event titled 'An Evening with The Bundys: The Married with Children Cast Reunion' on January 28, 2026, at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles, benefiting the Race to Erase MS organization, a cause close to Applegate, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021. A second reunion event, scheduled for May 9, 2026, was postponed. The cast's continued engagement with fans, including a June 2026 live event with Ed O'Neill and David Faustino, underscores the lasting impact and affection for the Bundy family.
