What Happened to Michel Platini?

Michel Platini, born on June 21, 1955, rose to global prominence as one of football's greatest attacking midfielders. His playing career, spanning from 1972 to 1987, saw him achieve immense success with clubs like AS Nancy, Saint-Étienne, and particularly Juventus, where he won two Serie A titles and the European Cup in 1985. Individually, he was awarded the prestigious Ballon d'Or three consecutive times from 1983 to 1985. As captain of the French national team, he led them to their first major international title, the UEFA European Championship in 1984, scoring a record nine goals in the tournament.

Following his retirement as a player, Platini transitioned into football administration. He coached the French national team from 1988 to 1992 and served as co-president of the organizing committee for the 1998 FIFA World Cup hosted by France.
