What Happened to Rashee Marquan Rice?

Rashee Marquan Rice, born April 22, 2000, quickly rose to prominence in the National Football League (NFL) after being selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the second round (55th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft. He played college football for the Southern Methodist University (SMU) Mustangs, where he had a standout senior season in 2022 with 96 receptions for 1,355 yards and 10 touchdowns.

His rookie NFL season in 2023 was highly successful, culminating in a Super Bowl LVIII victory with the Chiefs. Rice set an NFL record for the most postseason receptions by a rookie, hauling in 26 passes during the Chiefs' Super Bowl run. On February 18, 2026, Dacoda Jones, Rice's longtime partner and mother of their two children, filed a civil lawsuit in Texas, seeking over $1 million in damages. The lawsuit alleged that Rice subjected her to physical abuse, including grabbing, choking, and hitting, between December 2023 and July 2025, with many incidents occurring while she was pregnant. The NFL initiated an investigation into these allegations under its personal conduct policy.

As of April 3, 2026, the NFL has concluded its investigation into the domestic violence allegations. The league determined that Rice 'has not engaged in conduct that violates the personal conduct policy' and will not face further discipline from the NFL for these accusations. However, the civil lawsuit filed by Dacoda Jones remains active.
