Redmond James Fawcett O'Neal, born on January 30, 1985, is the son of Hollywood icons Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal. His life has been publicly documented as a tragic struggle with substance abuse and mental health issues, often overshadowed by his parents' fame.

O'Neal's troubles began early, with his first documented entry into rehab for heroin use in 2004, before he was 20. His legal record started in 2005 with arrests for cocaine and methamphetamine possession, followed by a DUI and drug possession charge in 2008. These early incidents set a pattern of arrests, probation violations, and stints in rehabilitation facilities and jail. His father, Ryan O'Neal, noted that Redmond had been to 13 rehab programs by 2009. A poignant moment in his early struggles was attending his mother Farrah Fawcett's funeral in June 2009, while shackled and under guard, due to his incarceration for drug offenses.
