Richard Gadd, born on May 11, 1989, in Wormit, Fife, Scotland, began his career in stand-up comedy, developing a reputation for raw, confessional storytelling. After studying English Literature and Theatre Studies at the University of Glasgow and training at the Oxford School of Drama, Gadd started performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2010.
