What Happened to The Phantom of the Opera?

Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'The Phantom of the Opera,' a musical adaptation of Gaston Leroux's 1910 novel, premiered in London's West End on October 9, 1986, and on Broadway on January 26, 1988, quickly becoming a global sensation.
